Mukhranuli Saperavi —a wine with exactly the same name—existed in Soviet Georgia in the early 1930s. This wine was made from Saperavi grapes harvested in the Mukhrani Valley in 2008, and is already four years old. Cherry-red and on the verge of maturity—as discernible in the very first whiff. Aromas of plum jam and of very well-cooked quince jam dominate this wine’s bouquet. This is a ripe wine, and could even be described as over-ripe. Enjoy immediately.
