The second collaboration forum focused on the wine sector will be held on January 22-23, 2015 at the Ambassador Hotel in Kachreti, Georgia, in the frame of the “Private Sector Development South Caucasus” (PSD SC) program of GIZ (the German Society for International Cooperation). One of its main objectives is to encourage and promote the continuous exchanges of information among public and private sectors at both the regional and international levels. The first forum, which was held on April 28, 2014, proved that such practices create a strong basis for the effective collaboration among the wine industry representatives. Therefore, it was initially determined that the event would be held at least once a year, in order to timely address the relevant issues of the field and draft action plans for those in charge.
This year’s forum will focus on three main topics:
• The key conditions of the association agreement between the European Union and Georgia.
• The challenges and perspectives of Qvevri (unique Georgian wine vessel) as a product on a global market.
• Existing problems regarding the expertise and qualifications on the local wine market.
The participants of the forum include the representatives of the government and private organizations, winemakers and university staffs from Georgia, Romania, the U.S. and Germany. They will outline the needs of the region and discuss local and international experiences, individual cases of beneficial practices, wine education programs and many other important issues.
