Gviani, Telavi Wine Cellar, 2006

On Georgia’s current wine market, this wine is almost the only white sweet wine made from late-harvested grapes. With the help of noble rot, bunches of Rkatsiteli grape build up a special combination of sugars and foreign aromas. This wine was fermented in oak barrels in which it was then left to age for nine months. Over time, it acquired a lemon-yellow colour with golden hues. First aromas of almonds and pistachioes, followed by notes of sweet spices and cakes made with honey. Serve well chilled with dessert—especially with panettone, ice-cream, kakluchi (walnuts dipped in grape juice), nuts in honey or cheese aged in honey.
