Georgian Wine Club and National Parliamentary Library of Georgia have released exciting news for wine connoisseurs, students and generally, wine lovers who are interested in winemaking and viticulture this New Year. Vine and Wine Library has opened its doors at National Parliamentary Library of Georgia in Tbilisi. It has been made possible for the first time in Georgia, in the country of ancient and unique traditions of winemaking, to join forces and lay the foundations of this very important book hub in the field of wine and viticulture.
The library is equipped with a vast array of Georgian and foreign books, starting from old resources that are preserved at National Parliamentary Library of Georgia to the latest editions including textbooks, historical sources, analytical texts, encyclopedias and catalogues with rich visual materials. The readers are given the opportunity to look for various literatures of his/her interest in the filed of viticulture, enology, soil science and in other related areas. The library provides a rich archive of books that contains important information about the history of viticulture and enology as well as about actual condition of almost every wine producing region. The readers will also be given the opportunity to introduce themselves to the wine periodicals in English, German, French, Italian and Russian languages in the near future.
Hundreds of digital books from the Wine Club collection will soon be available in the internal network of Vine and Wine Electronic Library. The users will be able to access the database on campus from the computer center of the library. Old Georgian publications about viticulture and enology are also planned to be digitized and published.
The library team intends to engage in a variety of activities throughout the year, which will draw public attention to different aspects of Georgian wine. Oenologists, sommeliers, vine growers, winemakers, students and anyone, in general, who is interested in the field, have been able to visit Vine and Wine Library at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, Building #3, since the beginning of 2015, every day from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
