This violet 2010 vintage, which has all the hallmarks of being a new wine, is definitely Jakeli Wines’ best Saperavi. Plants and vegetation dominate its bouquet: notes of rosemary, bay-leaves, etc. as well as various berries, black bilberries and hawthorn. A relatively full-bodied wine which, if shaken in its bottle, leaves a pattern of wavy lines on the inside of the glass. Unlike previous vintages from the Khashmi micro-zone this wine does not have an oaky flavour, but its high level of tannins gently numbs the mouth. Would go well with skewered lamb or beef steak.
