Kondoli is a small village near Telavi, the administrative centre of Kakheti region, and it is located within the confines of the particularly important Teliani and Tsinandali micro-zones. First encounter with this wine might suggest its resemblance to Telavi Wine Cellar’s “Tsinandali” though second approach will make it clear that Kondoli is more “exotic” due to the local soil that gives the combination of Rkatsiteli (80%) and Mtsvane (20%) grapes a very special Kondoli twist. The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and then rests a further 6-8 months in French oak before bottling. This wine is a bright straw-gold in the glass, with an aromatic nose of grapefruit, apricot, and sweet spice. In the mouth, the wine is smooth, and nicely structured with oak and buttery overtones. The finish is solid and crisp. This versatile wine is great with the vegetable and meat salads, fried or boiled poultry with traditional Georgian wallnut dressings and can shine with sushi, shrimps, and an assortment of European cheeses.
