Chkhaveri ‘Chkhaidzis’ (rosé), Kakhetian Traditional Wine-making, 2012

Another wine made from Chkhaveri grapes grown in the south-western Georgian region of Guria—only this time, pink. A very handsome grapefruit-red in colour, this wine is distinguished by aromas of red fruit and red berries as well as citrus fruit—among which the Author would identify strawberries, redcurrant and grapefruit. This is a dry and highly acidic wine with a medium body and a long, slightly minerally finish. It would best be served with roast turkey, pizza, or salads made from fish or meat.
