It was a splendid idea to produce a wine with this name, which reminded the author of old wine names from the 1930s such as ‘Ruispiris mtsvane’, ‘Mtsvane nasamkhrali’, etc. As the reader may already have guessed, this wine was made from Mtsvane grapes grown in the village of Ikalto, which lies close to the town of Telavi in Inner Kakheti. A straw-yellow with hints of gold. This fresh, stinging wine has first aromas of lemon zest and new sour cherry-plums (Prunus vachuschtii) and quite a long finish. It would go well with cheeses, fried freshwater fish or white chicken meat.
