Mukuzani

Mukuzani micro-zone is in the center of Kakheti, on the right bank of River Alazani in Gurjaani district. With the location of 350-750m above sea level, Mukuzani micro-zone includes the following sites and villages: Dedoplis Zvari, Papari Valley, Damarchine, Nadarbazevi, Zegaani, Mukuzani, Chumlakhi, Velistsikhe and Vazisubani. The vineyards are planted on the mountain slopes of medium latitude and surrounding valleys. The climate here is moderately humid with hot summers and cold winters.  The total sum of the annual sunshine amounts to 2150-2200 hours. During the vegetation period the sun shines averagely for 1600 hours. The ripening period is late August. Full ripening falls on late September. The principal grape varieties grown in the Mukuzani is Saperavi, the incomparable source of AOC “Mukuzani” wine. The micro-zone occupies the area of 653 hectares.
