Saperavi from Artana, Kakha Berishvili’s Wine Cellar, 2011

Saperavi from Artana was always renowned for its vivacity. This wine is relatively acidic and has good potential for ageing. A raspberry-red new wine which certainly needs to “breathe” beforehand. Quite exotic first aromas combining notes of dried plums and ripe blackberries. Increasingly interesting and intriguing with every sip. This is quite a full-bodied wine whose best feature is its long finish and which would go well with stewed beef or chicken or with lamb and vegetable stews.
