Rkatsiteli/Mtsvane kaxuri, the Petriaant family’s wine cellar, 2011

This traditional qvevri wine was made from Rkatsiteli and Mtsvane kakhuri grapes grown in the village of Zemo (Upper) Khodasheni near the town of Akhmeta. A handsome, amber-coloured wine with a bouquet featuring notes of cooked quince and dry leaves along with hints of bergamot at the end. This is a full yet stinging wine which should be served with hearty traditional Kakhetian meat dishes.
