Starting in 2026, by the decision of the Wine Club, the New Wine Festival will be named in honor of its initiator, co-founder, and driving spirit - our dear friend, Malkhaz Kharbedia. Moving forward, the festival will be dedicated to nurturing and realizing all his visions and ideas. "Wine for everyone and everyone for wine!" - Malkhaz Kharbedia's own words have officially become the festival's motto.
On May 9, 2026, the 17th annual New Wine Festival promises guests the opportunity to taste hundreds of new wines from the latest (2025) harvest, meet the creators behind them, and discover exciting new flavors.
The core mission of the New Wine Festival is to promote traditional Georgian Qvevri wine, uncover new grape varieties and terroirs, elevate the level of wine education in Georgia, and foster a refined consumer culture.
Since its inception in 2010, the festival has grown year after year. New family cellars and wine companies continually step onto the scene, sharing the very best of their latest harvests with us.
Beyond the producers, the New Wine Festival is eagerly anticipated by Georgian and international wine professionals, wine writers, wine bars, restaurants, and enthusiasts alike. For several years now, world-renowned Masters of Wine, sommeliers, importers, and wine writers have traditionally marked the festival's date on their calendars, preparing to encounter and celebrate Georgian wines.
This year, the New Wine Festival once again awaits all fans of Georgian wine at Mtatsminda Park. On May 9th, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, large wine companies, medium and small wineries, and family cellars from various corners of Georgia will welcome festival guests with the finest wines of the recent 2025 harvest.
The true charm of the New Wine Festival lies precisely in its diversity and the discovery of new tastes. Moreover, meeting directly with the winemakers allows us to learn so much more about the wines we taste and fall in love with.
The New Wine Festival 2026 will commence with the traditional Qvevri opening ceremony, accompanied by the polyphonic singing of Mravalzhamier. As always, this Qvevri will hold an exceptional wine crafted in a family cellar, carefully selected by the Wine Club.
The festival doors are open to all guests. Attendees will enjoy great music, an entertaining program, a raffle giving away 8 boxes of premium wine, and much more.
New Wine Festival 2026 in Memory of Malkhaz Kharbedia is sponsored by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and the National Wine Agency. Informational support is provided by the website "Marani" (vinoge.com) and the Wine Information Center. Event partners include Mtatsminda Park and the "8000 Vintages" wine shop chain. The festival is organized by the Wine Club of Georgia.
