After a pause of several years, this ‘Tsarapi’ Rkatsiteli wine has reappeared. Traditionally made from Rkatsiteli grapes grown in the ‘Tsarapi’ area of the village of Kardenakhi and harvested in 2011. This is a handsome, amber-yellow wine with first aromas of vegetation, followed by notes of fresh, green walnuts, and—after having been left to breathe for some time—ending with aromas of cakes and sweet spices. This wine has quite a long finish with strong notes of churchkhela (walnuts dipped in grape juice) and chamichi (oven-dried raisins), and would best be served to accompany dishes such as boiled beef with spices or kalia (pork stew with garlic).
